Dewitt (J. D. ) Taylor, age 81 of Lawrenceville, former resident of Moultrie, GA, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007. Funeral Services will be held 4 PM Thursday, December 20, 2007 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Hoyt Huff, Jr. & Rev. Richard Jenkins will officiate. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Friday, December 21, 2007 at Cobb Funeral Home, Moultrie, GA. Burial West View Cemetery, Moultrie, GA. Mr. Taylor was born August 27, 1926 in Mt. Vernon, Montgomery County, Georgia to the late Mettie Ladson Taylor & Wiley Taylor & is also preceded in death by his brothers: Duncan Taylor & James E. Taylor. Mr. Taylor attended the Moultrie Public Schools. He was a licensed Funeral Director since 1971, retiring after 20 years with Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville. In his early years he was associated with Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, Bridges Funeral Home, Athens. He was of the Christian Faith. Mr. Taylor served our country in the Army during World War II under the leadership of General Douglas McArthur in the Philippine Islands. He was later transferred to Tokyo, Japan for American occupation surveying Hiroshima & Nagasaki, the two cities on which the atomic bomb was dropped. He was a member of the Georgia Sky Divers at Stone Mountain, GA. Mr. Taylor is survived by his sisters: Lucy Taylor Deen, Jackie Taylor Flowers & husband Enos; Mollie Taylor Jordan, all of Moultrie; Ruth Taylor Mims, Okeechobee, FL; Martha Taylor Chitty & husband Lowell, Palatka, FL; Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Great Nephews.
