BUFORD - A puzzle of plywood replaced the brick facade of a Buford townhome Saturday after a car crashed into the two-story structure.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Friday at a small subdivision on Sturgeon Road, near the Mall of Georgia.
Gwinnett firefighters found a vehicle that had ran through the townhome after bulldozing a fire hydrant and striking a power pole, an official said.
The car destroyed a 10-foot section of the home's exterior wall and caused other structural damage, said Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Thomas Rutledge.
Two people inside the townhome at the time were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, Rutledge said.
The driver of the vehicle was not hurt but was arrested at the scene.
Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman was unable to name the suspect or list his charges Saturday. She did not have access to a police report or other records over the weekend, she said.
Rutledge said power and water companies were notified of the incident. He said water was not flowing from the downed hydrant.
