Prep Roundup: Lions win on Heyward buzzer-beater

SUWANEE - With 1.8 on the clock Corey Heyward got the winning basket for Peachtree Ridge (6-4) as the Lions defeated Forsyth Central 68-66 on Friday night.

Khalid Mutakabbir scored 30 points for Peachtree Ridge.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Brookwood 60, North 48

SUWANEE - Brookwood topped North Gwinnett 60-48 on Friday.

Nate Hamilton led Brookwood with 28 points and Conner Gay finished the night with 11 points for North.

The Broncos improve to 3-3 and North's record drops to 5-5.

Central 71, Shiloh 58

LAWRENCEVILLE - Central Gwinnett improved to 4-2 for the year after defeating Shiloh 71-58 on Friday.

Prinz Barimah led Central Gwinnett with 26 points and DeVonta' White finished the night with 19 points.

Norcross 82, North Forsyth 33

NORCROSS - Norcross beat North Forsyth 82-33 on Friday and remains undefeated at 5-0 for the year.

Al-Farouq Aminu led the Blue Devils with 32 points and Taariq Muhammad scored 19 points for Norcross.

Buford 85, Grayson 78

BUFORD - Jeramie Moore led the Wolves with 25 points as Buford topped Grayson 85-78 on Friday.

Bo Freer scored 21 points and Zac Lynn and Jordan Williams each scored 12 points for Buford. Dee Smith contributed 18 points for Grayson. Buford's record improves to 2-3.

Oconee County 63, Appalachee 58 OT

APPALACHEE - Vaughn Kilgore scored 14 points and Chaun Gresham had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) but it wasn't enough as Oconee topped Appalachee 63-58 in overtime Friday.

Diamond Gerring scored 13 for Appalachee (1-7, 0-2 Region 8-AAA).

Dacula 57, Eastside 37

DACULA - Dacula remains undefeated at 9-0 as the Falcons beat Eastside 57-37 on Friday.

Brian Cole finished the night with 20 points and 11 rebounds and Justin Rush contributed 20 points and six rebounds for Dacula.

Wesleyan 53, Lovett 45

ATLANTA - Howard Thompkins led the Wolves with 26 points, as Wesleyan won 53-45 over Lovett.

Tanner Smith contributed 21 points for Wesleyan as the Wolves improve to 5-2 for the season.

Woodland 55, Providence 51

LILBURN - Carter Rice scored 19 points but it wasn't enough for Providence as it lost 55-51 in over time Friday night.

Westley Hinton added 14 points and Wesleyan's record drops to 1-5 for the year.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

North 62, Brookwood 54

SUWANEE - Stephanie Owens led the Bulldogs with 16 points to help North Gwinnett beat Brookwood 62-54 on Friday night.

Stefanie Schuck and Stephanie Wheeler each scored 14 points and Abby Slocumb added 10 for North.

Courtney McLane scored 19 points and Katie Mallow added 10 points for the Broncos. North Gwinnett improves to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in Region 8-AAAAA. Brookwood's record drops to 1-5 overall.

Central 52, Shiloh 24

LAWRENCEVILLE - Jasmine Scott totaled 16 points as Central Gwinnett won 52-24 over Shiloh on Friday.

Dria David scored 11 points and Shawna Land added 10 points for Central. The Black Knights improve to 4-2 for the season and 1-0 in region.

South Forsyth 56, Collins Hill 52

CUMMING - The Eagles (6-3) lost to South Forsyth 56-52 on Friday night.

Lauren Pace scored 16 points and Nikki Urbizo added 12 points for Collins Hill.

Buford 62, Grayson 42

BUFORD - Blanche Alverson scored 17 points to help Buford win 62-42 over Grayson on Friday night.

Michelle Godwin totaled 16 points and Jocelyn Danley contributed 14 points for Buford.

Rebecca Westbrook and Kaity Minor each scored eight points for the Rams. Buford's record is 5-1 on the season.

Norcross 61, North Forsyth 45

NORCROSS - Norcross (4-4) took a 61-45 victory over North Forsyth on Friday.

Tiffany Clarke finished the night with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks and Alex DeMercy scored nine points and pulled in three rebounds for Norcross. Bri Meeks added eight points and had 10 rebounds for Norcross.

Peachtree Ridge 74, Forsyth Central 47

SUWANEE - Emily Wortman scored 21 points to help Peachtree Ridge (4-6) beat Forsyth Central 74-47 on Friday.

Mackenzie Dalrymple scored 14 points and Erika Waters contributed 12 points for Peachtree Ridge.

Dacula 74, Eastside 48

DACULA - Abbie Daniel led Dacula with 18 points as the Falcons defeated Eastside 74-48 on Friday.

Sara Beth White contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds and China Vinson scored 12 points. Eve Machovec led Dacula in rebounds, totaling 16 boards and adding 11 points. Dacula boosts its record to 4-5 for the year.

Wesleyan 69, Lovett 25

ATLANTA - Anne Marie Armstrong scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds for Wesleyan as the Wolves took a 69-25 win over Lovett on Friday.

Erin Hall added 11 points and Wesleyan's record improves to 4-0 in region and 7-2 overall.

GAC 57, Holy Innocents' 31

ATLANTA - GAC improved its record to 7-1, after defeating Holy Innocents' 57-31 on Friday.

Chaney Means finished the night with 19 points, six steals and four assists, while Anjelica Wilcox had 15 points and five rebounds. Briana Jordan had 11 points and five steals and Stephanie Pendleton and Clarke Boards each had six rebounds for GAC.

Hebron 39, Commerce 28

COMMERCE - Hebron (4-3) topped Commerce 39-28 on Friday night.

Britt Pecht totaled 15 points and Rachael Duval contributed 13 points and seven rebounds for Hebron. Victoria Whitley had 10 rebounds and six points for Hebron.

Providence 48, Woodland 33

LILBURN - Providence (3-3) topped Woodland 48-33 on Friday night

Maggie Brown scored 16 points and Julie Jordan added seven points for Providence.
