NORCROSS - Talk about a bad spot for a traffic snafu near rush hour.
Gwinnett police were forced to reroute traffic on Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Interstate 85 when an oversized tractor-trailer brought down utility lines Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 1 p.m. and caused major clogs in many of Norcross' main arteries.
On the west side of I-85, police on the scene directed traffic around on-ramps to Brook Hollow Parkway and nearby roads. The trailer appeared to be carrying a modular home.
Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said the tractor-trailer brought down cable, phone and possibly power lines.
The roadway was reopened just after 5 p.m., she said.
