Semi turns over on I-85

BRASELTON - A capsized tractor-trailer rig slowed traffic on a southbound ramp to Interstate 85 for about five hours Wednesday.

The truck had left the Pilot station on Ga. Highway 53. As the driver entered the southbound ramp to I-85, his tires struck the curb and shifted the load of plastic bottles, causing the truck to turn over on its side.

A woman driving a car alongside the truck slammed on her brakes and put the car in reverse to avoid being crushed, Braselton's Assistant Police Chief Lou Solis said.

The truck fell at 10:45 a.m. and was cleaned up around 4 p.m. The right side of the ramp remained open for traffic. Solis said it took five wreckers and five air bags to right the truck. No one was injured, but the truck was damaged, Solis said.
