I have the perfect solution for the prostitution problem ("Police make prostitution arrests," Page 1A, Dec. 6) - legalize it.
Prostitution arrests are a waste of time, a waste of police manpower, makes for unproductive law enforcement and it is the lowest form of arrest a police officer can make. The amount of money it costs to arrest a prostitute could be used to send some poor city kid to college. Make prostitution legal. Tax it, zone it, regulate it. Make sure that the women get periodical medical attention and have the license to practice it and the problem will be solved. - Gordon Cowan DuluthMore like this story
