Mustangs' Williams scores 23 in win

NORCROSS - Teondre Williams finished the night with a total of 23 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks to help Meadowcreek beat Whitefield 67-58 on Saturday.

Jarvis Brown had 14 points and four assists for Meadowcreek as the Mustangs improved to 3-2 overall.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 60, Mt. Zion 55

JONESBORO - Shiloh took a 60-55 victory over Mt. Zion-Jonesboro on Saturday night and improved to 3-2 overall.

Cameron Whigham scored 22 points and had nine rebounds and Ernst Brun totaled 17 points and seven rebounds. Zac Lurry added four points and had seven assists for Shiloh with steady guard play.

Parkview 59, Fayette County 47

FAYETTEVILLE - Yaw Gyawu scored 31 points to help the Panthers beat Fayette County 59-47 on Saturday night.

Bobby Glover added 17 points and Parkview remains undefeated 5-0.

Milton 65, Collins Hill 53

SUWANEE - Reed Buck scored 19 points for Collins Hill but the Eagles fell to Milton 63-53 on Saturday.

Jeremy Olsen and Kameron Phillips each scored 10 points and Collins Hill's record is now 5-2 for the year.

Dacula 66, Grayson 49

GRAYSON - Trent Kammerer scored 23 points as Dacula defeated Grayson 66-49 on Saturday.

Justin Rush scored 21 points for Dacula and the Falcons remain undefeated 7-0 overall and 2-0 in region.

Miller Grove 54, Wesleyan 51

JONESBORO - Howard Thompkins scored 25 points, but it wasn't enough for Wesleyan as the Wolves fell to Miller Grove 54-51 on Saturday night.

Wesleyan dropped to 4-2 overall.

Hebron 55, Tallulah Falls 44

DACULA - Jeremy Bell and James Floyd went 8-for-8 on the free throw line in the fourth quarter to push Hebron past Tallulah Falls 55-44 on Saturday.

Bell finished the night with 22 points and four assists and Floyd contributed 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. Hebron's record improved to 2-4 for the year.

Greater Gwinnett 77, Chattanooga 42

CHATTANOOGA - Greater Gwinnett beat Chattanooga 77-42 on Saturday.

Edward Jackson contributed 12 points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists and Jared Barajas added 12 points. Jared Martz had 10 rebounds and two blocks for Greater Gwinnett as its record improved to 10-1.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkview 44, Fayette County 38

FAYETTEVILLE - Sczeny Hartry scored 12 points as Parkview defeated Fayette County 44-38 on Saturday.

Meagan Geiger added nine points for the Panthers as their overall record improved 3-2.

Collins Hill 53, Milton 43

SUWANEE - Colins Hill took a 53-43 victory over Milton on Saturday night.

Jazmin Walker contributed 16 points, four rebounds and two steals, while Marissa Rimbert had 14 points, 13 rebounds and four assists for the night.

Taylor Johnson scored nine points, had seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks and Nikki Urbizo had seven points, four assists, two steals and three rebounds.

The Eagles boosted their record to 5-2.

Dacula 50, Grayson 34

GRAYSON - Dacula outscored Grayson 21-3 in the third quarter and went on to beat the Rams 50-34 on Saturday.

Abbie Daniel scored 21 points for Dacula and Erica Anderson scored nine points for the Rams (2-5).

Miller Grove 72, Shiloh 32

JONESBORO - Brooke Lane scored 12 points but it wasn't enough for Shiloh as the Generals fell to Miller Grove 72-32 on Saturday.

Shiloh's record falls to 1-4 for the season.

Buford 38, Paideia 35

ATLANTA - Blanche Alverson scored 17 points to help the Wolves take a 38-35 win over Paideia on Saturday.

Buford's record improved to 4-0 in region and 4-1 overall.

Meadowcreek 51, Whitefield 30

NORCROSS - Genea Williams scored 19 points and had six rebounds, two assists and nine steals for Meadowcreek as the Mustangs beat Whitefield 51-30 on Saturday night.

Brooke Wigfall added 17 points and had an assist and two steals for Meadowcreek. The Mustangs' record improved to 2-3 for the year.

Wesleyan 72, Jonesboro 53

JONESBORO - Wesleyan defeated Jonesboro 72-53 on Saturday and improved its record 6-2 for the year.

Erin Hall had 19 points and Anne Marie Armstrong contributed 16 points and seven rebounds for the Wolves. Chantel Kennedy had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Grace Leah Baughn added 11 points.

Hebron 60, Tallulah Falls 22

DACULA - Britt Pecht finished the night with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five steals as Hebron took a 60-22 win over Tallulah Falls on Saturday.

Rachael Duval had 15 points, seven rebounds and six steals and Olivia Clark had 15 rebounds and eight points. Megan Griffin added eight points and Hebron eveneds its record to 3-3.

Dawson County 38, Providence Christian 32

LILBURN - Maggie Brown led Providence with 14 points, but it wasn't enough as the Stars fell 38-32 to Dawson County on Friday.

Amelie Allen had six points and four assists for Providence (1-3).

Greater Gwinnett 59, Chattanooga 44

CHATTANOOGA - Greater Gwinnett beat Chattanooga 59-44 on Saturday.

Diamond Smith totaled 20 points, 20 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks and Sarah Reis and Ashley White each scored 13 points for Greater Gwinnett.

Greater Gwinnett's record improves to 6-5.

WRESTLING

Sartain leads Lions to 4-3 mark at tourney

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge's Andrew Sartain was one of three Lion wrestlers to go undefeated at the Lion Duals on Saturday.

Peachtree Ridge (10-6) defeated Miller Grove 84-0, Forsyth Central 42-27, Woodland 45-32, Gilmer 37-33 and lost to Lexington (S.C.) 39-38, Ringgold 39-38 and Bradley Central (Tenn.) 60-13.

Sartain (119 pounds) had five pins and one technical fall during the tourney as he was named the tournament's lightweight most outstanding wrestling. The senior also picked up his 100th career pin.

Kendall Albert (140) was 7-0 with three pins and Sam Kuntz (189) was also 7-0 with four pins. Matt Chapman (160) went 6-1 with four pins.

Bradley Central won the tournament followed by Gilmer and Ringgold. Gilmer's Bradley Sneider was named heavyweight most outstanding wrestler.

Grayson goes 5-2 at Lion Duals

SUWANEE - Grayson took first place in Pool B and finished 5-2 for the weekend at the Lion Duals at Peachtree Ridge High School.

The Rams defeated North Forsyth 46-19, Woodland 43-27, Miller Grove 67-3 and Mill Creek 39-3 and lost to Lexington (S.C.) 38-31 and Ringgold 46-27.

Grayson (10-7) had three wrestlers go undefeated led by the Isburgh brothers Nick and Jon. Michael Yurk was also 7-0.

Tucker Kreis was 6-1, Jack Dunster was 5-1 and Roman Mangini and Mike Dixon were 5-2.

Wesleyan finishes third in Invitational

CANTON - Wesleyan finished third in the Sequoyah Invitational on Saturday.

Kelby Smith (215 pounds) finished in first place for the Wolves, while Josh Jeng (125), Colin Genthert (160), Kyle Hagenau (171), Michael Douglas (189) each placed third.

Brooks Spraetz (103) finished fourth and Alex Sierota (112), Tyler Hediger (135) and Jimmy Dugal (285) each finished fifth in the tournament. Drew Carroll (152) finished in sixth place for Wesleyan.
