EZZARD ROAD WELL

The City of Lawrenceville Water Department is planning to activate a water well located on Ezzard Road. Current testing indicates that the well contains uranium exceeding the MCL level. The City will initiate a program with WRT Environmental, LLC to remove the uranium from the Ezzard Road water supply prior to pumping it into the water system.

The City is also planning to activate three wells which contain radium exceeding the MCL level. The City will also initiate a program to remove the radium prior to pumping into the water system.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Division is requiring that the City seek public comment through public hearings. The City will conduct public hearings on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 6:00 PM and Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. Both hearings will be held in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 South Clayton Street, Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Any citizen wishing to comment on the proposal may do so at the meeting. Written comments will also be received at 70 South Clayton Street, Lawrenceville, Georgia prior to the meeting.

The date of location approval is November 5, 2007

Project number MLS-0004-00(644) is the widening and reconstruction of SR 20 Loganville Highway which will begin approximately 2,600 feet southeast of the Ozora Road/ Cooper Road/SR 20 intersection and will end at the Brand Road/SR20 intersection.

The proposed section will be two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction separated by a 24-foot raised median, with a 16- foot shoulder on each side containing curb and gutter and a 5-foot sidewalk. Appropriate side road intersections will be revised to intersect SR 20 at or near 90-degrees. The project length is approximately 2.5 miles.

This project is located 100% within in Congressional District 11. This project is located in land lots, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, and 139 in land district 5 in Gwinnett County.

The plan is available for review at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center - Commission Office, each City Hall listed above and on the web at www.gwinnettcounty.org.

The draft plan will help achieve a State-wide 23% per person waste stream reduction by 2017 and ensure adequate solid waste handling capability and capacity for the next decade.

A Public Hearing will be held to brief the community on the contents of the Plan, provide an opportunity for residents to make suggestions, additions or revisions and to inform the community when the Draft Plan will be submitted to the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for review.

LEGAL NOTICE

This advisory is issued to inform the public of an application for a stream buffer variance submitted pursuant to the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act O.C.G.A. 12-7-6(15). The public is invited to comment during a 30-day review period of the proposed buffer encroachment associated with the Heraeus Boulevard Site warehouse/distribution center located in the City of Buford, Georgia.

The proposed encroachment area is located off of Buford Highway NE and its intersection with Heraeus Boulevard. The site is bounded by Heraeus Boulevard to the east, Adams Street to the north, private property to the south, and a stream to the west. The project involves impacts to the 25-foot buffer of one unnamed, warm-water tributary of Suwanee Creek. The state waters buffer to be impacted does not appear on the Suwanee, Gwinnett County, Georgia United States Geological Survey topographic map as an intermittent or perennial blue line stream.

Plans may be reviewed at the City of Buford, 2300 Buford Highway, Buford, Georgia 30518. Since the Environmental Protection Division has no authority to zone property or determine land use, only those comments addressing issues related to air, water, and land protection will be considered in the application review process.
