BRASELTON - Chateau Elan's CEO Henk Evers on Wednesday presented Braselton Mayor Pat Graham with a $5,000 check to benefit the town library.
The donation came from part of the money raised at the 18th annual Lighting of the Chateau, an event that illuminates more than 35,000 lights outlining the buildings, vineyard and manicured grounds. Each year, the winery and resort donates a portion of the proceeds from the lighting to a charity or organization, said Larry Mayran, Chateau Elan's corporate communications director.
Graham said the town is "very thankful and grateful" for the donation. The $5,000 check was more than she had expected.
"It was very, very generous on their part," she said.
The money will go toward the library's book inventory, Graham said. When the library moved in 2006 to its current location on West Broadway, it gained 6,000 square feet of space.
"Although we do have lots of books, we can always use more," she said.
The Braselton Library receives a lot of support from the community, Graham said. The Friends of the Braselton-West Jackson Library raise funds throughout the year to support programs and buy new materials and books.
The library is located on Ga. Highway 124 just west of the intersection with Ga. Highway 53. The building is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
