Police release sketch of suspect wanted in burglaries, molestations

NORCROSS - Police released a sketch Wednesday of a man suspected of breaking into Norcross residences earlier this month and fondling girls in their sleep.

Police announced on Aug. 21 that an investigation had linked at least three incidents of burglary and molestation in Norcross apartment complexes. Each crime happened on Singleton Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Britt Road.

No further incidents have been reported since that announcement, police said Wednesday.

All three incidents occurred within a week, said Gwinnett County Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. Police used witness accounts to compile the recent sketch.

"(Gwinnett) police are still actively searching for this suspect," Spellman said.

The man's pattern was to enter apartments between 11:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. He has been described by victims as a black man, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, and between 140 and 160 pounds. He could have a goatee and short, curly hair, police said.

Police urge residents to call 911 immediately upon seeing a man who fits this description.

Police still request that Gwinnett residents "take extra measures to ensure that their doors and windows are locked and secure at all times," Spellman said.

Police urge anyone with specific information regarding the case to call the Gwinnett County Police Criminal Investigation Division at 770-513-5300.
