LAWRENCEVILLE - A Norcross man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a Wednesday morning accident that killed a motorcyclist.
According to police, Amin Mecky Auybo, 31, was driving a 1996 Mazda pickup truck east on Pleasant Hill Road at 1:18 a.m. Wednesday when his vehicle collided with a motorcycle. Auybo was attempting to turn left onto Corley Place. The man riding the motorcycle was ejected and struck by a BMW traveling west on Pleasant Hill Road, Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Rob Rude wrote in a press release. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the dead man's name is not being released until his family is notified. Police at the scene found an open alcoholic beverage in Auybo's truck. "Auybo was arrested at the scene and charged with failure to yield the right of way, possession of an open container and DUI," Rude wrote. According to the release, Auybo was also charged with first-degree vehicular homicide. Auybo remains in the Gwinnett County Jail with a $56,937 bond, according to online jail records.More like this story
