LAWRENCEVILLE - A Tuesday afternoon fire heavily damaged a Lawrenceville home, displacing an adult and two children.
Firefighters responded to the home on Shady Cove Lane at 2:25 p.m. and had the blaze under control just after 3 p.m., an official said.
Fire crews found the home's garage and main-level in flames on arrival. The fire then extended to the home's second floor and attic before firefighters could control it, said Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Thomas Rutledge.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, Rutledge said.
Initially, a 911 caller reported smoke and flames coming from the garage of the two-story house but did not know if anyone was inside.
The fire caused extensive damage and sent smoke and heat throughout the structure. The cause of the fire is undetermined, Rutledge said.
