LAWRENCEVILLE - With triple digit temperatures and stifling humidity, children may be daydreaming of a cold dip into the pool after school.
But with fall fast approaching, county operated pools are restricting their hours. When school went back into session two weeks ago, Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation staffers switched to a weekend schedule for the outdoor leisure pools at Best Friend, Dacula, Rhodes Jordan and Lenora parks. Year-round pools at Bogan, Bethesda, Collins Hill and Mountain Park aquatic centers continue to be open during the week. The last day for the outdoor pools will be Labor Day, Sept. 3, officials announced. In fact, all the pools will close Sept. 4. Mountain Park, Bogan and Bethesda aquatic centers will reopen on Sept. 10 under the county's winter schedule, while the Collins Hill Aquatic Center will close for six weeks as it under goes renovations.
