Winder man pleads innocent to stabbings

WINDER - Tommy Lamont Davis Jr., 26, of Winder pleaded not guilty Monday to charges involving the stabbing of two people March 27.

Davis is accused of stabbing Willie Smith, 39, of Winder, at 6:44 a.m. at the corner of Capital Avenue and Williamson Street as Smith and two other men walked together on the sidewalk. Smith told police in March that he was stabbed with a large butcher knife, suffering wounds to both hands, both shoulders and his right hip.

Davis is also accused of having stabbed Shana Edenfield inside her Winder apartment about 7 p.m. that same evening. Personnel at Barrow Regional Medical Center treated her for cuts and punctures in her hands and torso, including a punctured kidney, arrest warrants state. Police located knives, a screwdriver and a fork on the scene.

Davis is charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery. No court date has been set.
