Imus settles with CBS, talks to other outlets

NEW YORK - Don Imus has reached a settlement with CBS over his multimillion-dollar contract and is negotiating to resume his broadcasting career.

Imus and CBS Radio 'have mutually agreed to settle claims that each had against the other regarding the Imus radio program on CBS,' the network and Imus' attorney Martin Garbus said in a joint statement Tuesday.

Imus is talking to WABC-AM and other stations about making a possible comeback, a person familiar with the talks told The Associated Press.

Pavarotti chooses to stay in hospital

ROME - Luciano Pavarotti has been given the go-ahead by doctors to leave the hospital where he was admitted last week with a fever, but he plans to remain for a few more days just to be sure, his wife, Nicoletta Mantovani, said Tuesday.

Love slims down

NEW YORK - Courtney Love posed for the upcoming issue of Harper's Bazaar wearing a hat, jewelry and shoes.

'Go check it out. All of the size 8s are gone,' the 43-year-old singer tells the magazine in its September issue, on newsstands Aug 21. 'I've lost a lot of weight, and I have done it through being quite disciplined.'

Love says she now weighs about 139 pounds.

Lohan sued in automobile chase

LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan was sued Tuesday for assault and negligence by a woman who was a passenger in a car the actress is accused of chasing while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Lohan 'put me through one of the most frightening experiences of my life,' Tracie Rice said in a statement after the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Court considers motion to make Spears' divorce papers public

LOS ANGELES - A court commissioner said Tuesday he would consider a motion by a magazine and a TV station to unseal documents in the Britney Spears-Kevin Federline divorce case. Another hearing was scheduled for Sept. 14 to give attorneys for Spears and Federline time to make their case for keeping the documents under seal.
