Hospital offers low-cost screenings
SNELLVILLE - Emory Eastside Medical Center will offer low-cost health screenings this week.
From 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, the hospital will give blood sugar, cholesterol and cardiac risk factor tests, as well as skin cancer screenings, at the 1700 Medical Way location in Snellville.
Those interested in the tests must be at least 18 years old. Participants must fast beginning at 8 p.m. the night before the test, with no more than a sip or a swallow of water to take required medications, until after the test.
The cost for the fasting blood sugar screening is $3.80, the cholesterol test costs $5 and the cardiac risk factors test is $17.90.
No appointment is needed for the tests, but registration is required for the skin screenings. For more information and to register, call 770-982-2358.
5K to benefit North booster club
SUWANEE - There is still time to sign up for North Gwinnett High School's Bulldog Dash.
Race day sign-up begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the school's stadium, located at 20 Level Creek Road. The race will follow at 8 a.m.
Registration is $18, and proceeds from the 3.1-mile run will benefit the school's cross country team booster club.

Bloodmobile to be at Buford Publix
BUFORD - LifeSouth's bloodmobile will take blood donations at a Buford Publix next week.
Donations will be accepted from 1:30 to 5:50 p.m. Monday at the Publix located at 4840 Golden Parkway in Buford.
All donors will receive a recognition item and a free cholesterol screening.

Fashion show to benefit 3-Day
SUGAR HILL - An Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day Team is hosting its second annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, called A Taste of Hope, in two weeks.
The Tutus for Tatas team will host the event beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at First Baptist Church Sugar Hill, located at 5091 Ga. Highway 20 in Sugar Hill.
Tickets are $60, and tables of eight are available. Proceeds will go toward breast cancer research.
Breast health information and health vendors will be provided at the event, which will also include a silent auction, entertainment and lunch provided by Johnny Carino's and other restaurants.
