WINDER - Seven people, including four children, were injured in an accident inside Fort Yargo State Park on Monday afternoon.
According to a Winder Police Department press release, an 18-year-old woman driving a white Dodge Ram along Campground Road left the roadway, striking a tree about 3:30 p.m. Two adults injured in the accident were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, while the driver's 18-month-old daughter was flown to Eggleston Children's Hospital, and four other children were transported by ambulance to the Atlanta hospital. Police said the conditions of the children and the two adults were unknown Monday evening. According to the release, the names of the seven injured were not being given as of press time Monday because families had not been notified. Information obtained from the scene revealed that all seven people were inside the cab of the pickup at the time of the crash. It had not been determined whether the driver or the passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the release. Although the speed limit on Campground Road is 35 mph, investigators estimated the truck's speed was 50 mph before the collision, the release said. The 18-year-old driver may face charges, the release said. Comments from Winder police were not available by press time Monday.More like this story
