You can take a trip to the Wild West without leaving Lawrenceville this weekend, thanks to the Aurora Theatre's production of "Annie Get Your Gun," running now through Sept. 9.

Featuring Natasha Drena as the most famous sharp-shooter in American history, Annie Oakley, Irving Berlin's musical masterpiece features the hit songs "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better" and "Doin' What Comes Naturally."

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range in price from $18 to 25. Tickets to matinee performances at 10 a.m. Wednesday and Aug. 22 are $14. Aurora Theatre is located at 128 Pike St. in Lawrenceville. For more information, visit www.auroratheatre.com.

New London Theatre

finds new home

On Tuesday, the New London Theatre announced its plans to move into a new home - the Snellville Plaza.

"We have already leased the building and construction should begin in late August," said Kirk Buis, president of the New London Theatre's board of directors.

The future venue is located at 2485 E. Main St. in Snellville.

Buis said the group hopes to debut "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" at the new theater in mid-October.

New London's next show will be "Steel Magnolias," running Sept. 7-23, will be performed at Zoar United Methodist Church, 3895 Zoar Church Road in Snellville.

Fox, Theater of the Stars

will create new musicals

The Fox Theatre and Atlanta's Theater of the Stars have joined Elephant Eye Theatrical, an initiative to create new book musicals for Broadway.

"For the first time in our history, we will play a proactive role in the creation of exciting new musicals," said Allan Vella, general manager of the Fox Theatre, in a press release. "Many of these musicals will go on to play Broadway stages around the world and, of course, at home here at the fabulous Fox Theatre."

Formed in late 2005, Elephant Eye has three projects in advanced stages of development - "The Addams Family," based on characters, cartoons and sketches by the legendary cartoonist Charles Addams; "Bruce Lee: Journey to the West," a musical that follows the mythic journey of two Chinese legends - martial arts star Bruce Lee and the beloved Chinese warrior god, The Monkey King; and "Saved!" Based on the film of the same name, "Saved!" is set at a Christian high school where students, teachers and parents find faith in unexpected places.

The first of these performances is scheduled to be performed on Broadway during the 2009-10 season.
