LAWRENCEVILLE - Authorities on Tuesday released the names of two men involved in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 north Monday morning.
Gwinnett County Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said 30-year-old Danene Rey of Lithonia was traveling north on I-85 Monday when the rear right tire of Rey's 2005 Dodge Stratus blew out. Spellman said investigations indicate Rey lost control of the vehicle, he over-corrected and his car swerved, wedging his vehicle under a nearby traveling tractor-trailer. Rey was trapped inside his vehicle and rescued by Gwinnett County firefighters then transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, according to a Fire Department press release. According to hospital spokesman Kyle Brogdon, Rey was still at the hospital in fair condition Tuesday. Authorities said the driver of the tractor-trailer, 27-year-old Richard Mann of Millington, Tenn., was unharmed. Spellman said Rey does not face any charges but was issued a citation for failure to maintain his lane.More like this story
