DULUTH - Police identified the victims of a double shooting in Duluth on Wednesday after the two men were found dead Tuesday in an apartment complex.
Investigators described the victims, Valente Carbajal-Otero, 29, and Erik Eliezer Vallecillo-Matute, 28, as Hispanic men found at 2836 Northwoods Lake Court. Gwinnett Chief Forensic Investigator Ted Bailey said both men were shot at least once but could offer little information about the scenario in which they were killed. "We can tell you they were shot - not how many times or where," Bailey said. Based on witness accounts and available information, police believe the men died sometime Tuesday, Bailey said. He could not speculate what kind of weapon was used in the killings. Duluth police were not available for comment Wednesday. Maj. Don Woodruff, a Duluth police spokesman, said Tuesday a relative to one of the men had reported the shootings at the Promenade at Berkley Apartments off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Police were dispatched to the scene just before 4 p.m. A motive for the apparent shootings was unclear Tuesday. The shootings could mark Duluth's first slayings in at least two years, Woodruff said.More like this story
