Prep Roundup: Hood single short of cycle in Norcross win

SUWANEE - Vinny Hood missed hitting for the cycle by a single as he helped Norcross to a 11-4 win over Peachtree Ridge on Saturday.

Hood had two RBIs, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run.

Peter Poole was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and Tyler Maloof and Darius Hanks each had two hits for the Blue Devils (15-8, 10-4).

Jacob Matthews (5-2) got the win in a complete game, striking out five.

BASEBALL

Buford 11, Decatur 1

DECATUR - Chase Burnette went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a three-run homer to lift Buford over Decatur 11-1 in five innings on Saturday.

David Hendrix pitched all five innings, giving up just two hits and striking out three to get the win. Jay Tee Swanson was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Will Bowers went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and Cody Getz was 2-for-2 for the Wolves (13-10, 9-5).

SOFTBALL

Killian Hill sweeps

People's to advance

to GCA state finals

LILBURN - Rachel Niarchos picked up both wins as Killian Hill downed People's twice on Saturday to advance to the Georgia Christian Association's state softball finals.

Killian Hill won the fist game 12-1 in five innings and the second game 15-2 in five innings. Niarchos struck out 10 in the two games, while her sister Anna Niarchos went 5-for-8 with two RBIs in the wins. Meghan Lewis knocked in four runs in the sweep.

Cheney Brinkley was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in Game 1 and Olivia Peralta was 2-for-4 in Game 2.
