Army Pvt. Adam T. Osland has graduated with honors in the top 10 percent of the Bravo Battery First Battalion 79th Field Artillery basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. He earned his first badge in rifle marksmanship. Osland is the son of Tom and Cindy Osland of Suwanee.
Army Pvt. David K. Adams has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. He is the son of David Adams of Prattville, Ala., and Leanne Chapman of Lawrenceville.
Air Force Airman Chad R. Rice has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is the son of Iris Rice of Kennesaw and brother of Valisha Griffen of Lilburn.
Rice is a 2004 graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta.
Army Lt. Gen. John M. Brown III was one of an elite group of officers inducted into the 2007 Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held in the Marshall Auditorium, Infantry Hall at Fort Benning in Columbus. Gen. Brown is the commander of the U.S. Army Pacific Command at Fort Shafter in Hawaii. He has served in the military for 37 years. His wife, Elaine Brown, lives in Buford. Their two daughters are Kathryn E. Brown of Roswell and Allison L. Brown of Atlanta.
Brown is a 1969 graduate of West Georgia College in Carrollton, where he received a bachelor's degree. He is a 1979 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he received a master's degree.
Army National Guard Pfc. Lisa A. Schwendimann has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Garibaldi Schwendimann of Buford, and the niece of Evelyn Rios in Puerto Rico.
