NORCROSS - A Norcross man arrested in Florida is the second suspect charged in a fatal stabbing at the Stanford Village Apartments earlier this month.
Desmond Anthony Sellers, 22, of Norcross was wanted in connection with the April 8 stabbing of Demitrius Gomez, said Stacey Bourbonnais, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
Gwinnett sheriff's deputies and federal marshals had information Sellers had left Georgia and was on his way to New York or Florida.
"We were able to develop additional information that he was in Lauder Hills, Fla.," she said. "The U.S. Marshal's Office along with Broward County officials set up surveillance on an apartment complex in Lauder Hills and observed Mr. Sellers along with three others. He was taken into custody after giving officials a false name."
Sellers is being held at the Broward County jail awaiting extradition.
On April 12, police arrested Verlon A. McPherson, 24, of Conyers, and charged him with murder. Gomez was stabbed twice with a knife in the groin and chest in an altercation in a complex parking lot.
