WINDER - More than 39 acres zoned for agricultural uses were rezoned to allow for commercial and light industrial development in Tuesday's Barrow County Board of Commissioners meeting. Commissioners also rezoned a total of 100 acres from agricultural use for residential development.
•8.5 acres at 370 Carl-Bethlehem Road were rezoned to allow for a self-storage facility. Barrow County's Future Land Use Map shows the area as low density residential.
•4.8 acres at 1049 and 1053 Loganville Highway were rezoned to allow for a commercial retail development. The county's Future Land Use Map shows the area as low/medium density residential.
•6.3 acres on Tanner Bridge Road at Ga. Highway 81 were rezoned to allow for a commercial development. The county's Future Land Use Map shows the area as low/medium density residential.
•20 acres were rezoned to develop eight light industrial lots. Barrow County's Future Land Use Map shows the area as commercial.
•1 acre at 452 Maple Park Drive was rezoned to residential. The owner, Robert Bailey, told commissioners he intended to give that acre to his son as a wedding present. The residential zoning will allow the couple to build a single-family home.
•38 acres on Tanners Bridge Road were rezoned to residential so the developer can add 44 subdivision lots.
•The 10.5-acre Ralph Villars Estate at 872 Old Thompson Mill Road was rezoned to residential to allow for the sale of the home on the property.
•61 acres at Haymon Morris Road and Tom Miller Road were rezoned to a higher density residential zoning for a commercial/residential development of 177 homesites. The property was formerly zoned for 140 homesites.
•One-half acre owned by Paul Amason at 1572 Highway 82 was rezoned from residential to agricultural to allow Amason to keep his pet cow and goat.
