Carter - Hamner

Kyle and Sarah Carter of Sylva, N.C. announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Kristin Carter of Atlanta, to Daks Jeremy Hamner of Atlanta, son of Larry and Patricia Bell of Braselton and Dwight and Susan Hamner of Killen, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Frances Carter of Macon. She is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., where she received a bachelor's degree. She is a graduate of Tufts University in Boston, where she received a master's degree in nutrition and public health. She is employed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a nutrition epidemiologist.

The future groom is the grandson of Col. Joseph and Sara Seanor of Braselton and Herschel and Bessie Hamner of Killen, Ala. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting and international business. He is attending the University of Georgia, where he plans to graduate in May 2008 with a master's degree. He is employed by EBS Atlanta as an associate vice president.

The wedding is planned for Saturday at the Yellow House Bed and Breakfast in Waynesville, N.C.

Hall - Cannon

Mr. and Mrs. James Howard Hall III of Lilburn announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Kaye Hall of Lilburn, to Charlie William Cannon of Conyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Michael Cannon of Conyers.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Jones of Lawrenceville, Virginia Cook Hall of Lilburn and the late James Howard Hall Jr. She plans to graduate from the University of Georgia in May 2008 with a bachelor's degree in furnishings and interiors.

The future groom is the grandson of E. Kathryn Lucas of Cleveland, and the late William Thomas Lucas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie William Cannon. He is the stepgrandson of Wilma Lucas of Snellville. He is a 2005 graduate of the Georgia Military College, where he received a degree in business administration. He is continuing his education in photography and is employed by Roger Cannon Photography as an associate photographer.

The wedding is planned for June 1 in Norcross.

Ruby - Coker

Gordon and Gloria Ruby of Loganville announce the engagement of their daughter, Joy Elizabeth Ruby of Loganville, to Jacob Thomas Coker of Loganville, son of Tommy and Carol Coker of Loganville.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Faith Academy in Loganville. She recently graduated from nursing school.

The future groom is a graduate of a home-school program. He is the grandson of Richard and Carolyn Garmon of Loganville, and Louis and Dorothy Coker of Asheville, N.C. He is employed by Coker's Auto Service as an automotive technician.

The wedding is planned for May in Loganville.

Hall - Kawano

William and Patricia Hall of Santiago, Chile, announce the engagement of their daughter, Leah Marie Hall of Braselton, to Shintaro Kawano of Osaka, Japan, son of Yoshihiro and Michiyo Kawano of Osaka, Japan.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College and Athens Technical College. She is employed by NEGA Medical Center as a physical therapist assistant.

The future groom is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College, where he received a degree in business.

The wedding is planned for August.

Jones - Miller

Dennis and Louise Jones of Wauchula, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter, Anne Katherine Jones, to Jeffrey Christopher Miller, son of Larry and Sheila Miller of Snellville.

The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Hardee Senior High School in Wauchula, Fla. She is a 2001 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received a master's degree in business administration. She is employed by Georgia Transmission Corporation in Atlanta.

The future groom is a 1995 graduate of Brookwood High School. He is a 2001 graduate of Auburn University, where he received a bachelor's degree in finance. He is employed by The Quikrete Companies as a staff accountant.

The wedding is planned for Aug. 10 in Norcross.
