J. Andrew (Andy) Sorrell, III, age 51, of Lawrenceville, GA, died Thursday, April 19, 2007 after a short battle with metastatic melanoma cancer of the brain. He is survived by: Two Daughters, Betsy (Michael) Royal of Aiken, SC, Robyn Sorrell of Averill Park, NY; a Special Loved One, Julie Rath of Lilburn, GA; Father, Mr. & Mrs. J. Andrew (Joyce) Sorrell of Alexander City, AL; Sisters, Amanda (Charles) Bazemore of Tuscaloosa, AL, Cindy (Buddy) Forehand of Montgomery, AL; Brother, Chip (Mary) Weathers of Tallahassee, FL; Nieces, Susan Bazemore of Auburn, AL, Claire Bazemore of Birmingham, AL; Nephew, Rusty (Jessica) Weathers of Palm Bay, FL; Uncle, Melville (Judy) Fuller of Franklin, TN. Mr. Sorrell was born January 7, 1956 in Alexander City, AL and graduated from Benjamin Russell High School. He attended Auburn University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and was a longtime employee of the Starter Sports Company. He loved to play golf, watch NASCAR Racing and especially enjoyed pulling for his beloved Auburn Tigers (War Eagle). He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Fuller Sorrell; sister, Susan Sorrell; and Grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Julius Andrew Sorrell Sr. & Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Fuller. A Celebration of Life Services for Andy Sorrell will be held Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 4:00PM in the Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. Richard Jones officiating. Interment services will be held Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11:00AM (Central Time) at the Alexander City Cemetery in Alexander City, AL. The family will receive friends following the service until 7pm at the funeral home. Frank O. Leasendale, age 85 of Stone Mountain, GA, died on April 18, 2007. He was born on May 15, 1921 in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved to Georgia in 1970. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Leasendale; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Roger Purcell of Brunswick, Georgia; son, Jeffrey Leasendale of Atlanta; and granddaughters, Kathryn Purcell of Athens and Claire Purcell of Brunswick. Frank Leasendale attended Clemson College while in the U.S. Army, and served his country in World War II including participation in the Battle of the Bulge. He then earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from New York University, and worked for many years in the accounting and finance field. During his retirement, he was a volunteer along with his wife at Egleston Children's Hospital, and they also were class "grandparents" for several years at Hopkins Elementary School in Lilburn. He was a member of Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church in Lilburn. Frank Leasendale was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifelong baseball fan and for many years was a Little League Coach. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 22 at 3pm at Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church in Lilburn. The family will receive friends one hour before service at the church.
