Gwinnett Daily Post
ATLANTA - The Gwinnett Judicial Circuit would get a 10th Superior Court judge under legislation passed unanimously by the Senate on Thursday.
The bill, which began in the House, gained final approval and now goes to Gov. Sonny Perdue for his signature. The legislation would add a judgeship to Gwinnett and four other judicial circuits around the state. In Gwinnett's case, the new judge would be appointed by the governor and take office next January. The position then would be up for election next year, with the winner taking office on Jan. 1, 2009, for a four-year term. The bill also would authorize the 10 judges to hire an additional court reporter.More like this story
