SUWANEE - The Gwinnett County Board of Education Thursday approved the appointments of two educators as elementary school principals.
Kimberly Smith, an assistant principal at Level Creek Elementary School, will on June 1 become the principal of Suwanee Elementary School. Smith has a specialist's degree from the University of Georgia and is completing her doctorate in education from Argosy University in Sarasota, Fla. Suwanee Principal Rita Cantrell is leaving Gwinnett County Public Schools to accept a job in an Alabama school district's central office. Maxine Rithmore, the former principal of Brookwood Elementary who retired last year, will serve as Suwanee's interim principal. Norcross Elementary School will be led by Dora Hill next school year. Hill, who has a doctor of education from the University of Miami, is a principal in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. She has also served as an assistant principal and superintendent. Norcross Elementary Principal LaVern Watkins is leaving GCPS for a principal's position in another school district.More like this story
