LAWRENCEVILLE - Parents and community members have the opportunity this month to hear about school system initiatives and speak with elected school board officials.
Gwinnett Board of Education members are hosting the annual area board meetings this month. Meetings are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays at a high school within each board member's district.
"It's sort of a state-of-the-school-district meeting," Board Chairwoman Louise Radloff said. "It's an opportunity for people to learn and listen and share with us."
Radloff said she would like any resident interested in learning about Gwinnett County Public Schools to attend a meeting.
At each meeting, Gwinnett Schools Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks will present information about the school system's budget and initiatives. There will also be a time for the public to address the board members.
All meetings will start at 7 p.m. in the school's theater. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The meetings are as follows:
•Mary Kay Murphy will host the District III meeting Tuesday at Norcross High School, 5300 Spalding Drive, Norcross. Her district includes the Norcross and Duluth clusters, portions of the Peachtree Ridge cluster, Monarch School and Buchanan High School of Technology.
•Louise Radloff will host the District V meeting April 17 at Meadowcreek High School, 4455 Steve Reynolds Blvd, Norcross. Her district includes the Meadowcreek cluster and portions of the Berkmar and Parkview clusters.
