Leland R. Helwig, age 92 died April 3, 2007. Born February 3, 1915 in Madison, Wisconsin, he was a former 40 year resident of Des Plains, Illinois. Mr. Helwig was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Helwig. Oliver Stephen Wheeler, 67, of Dawsonville, GA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Northside Forsyth Hospital, Cumming, GA. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Wheeler was a native of Andrews, NC and had lived in Dawsonville for the past four years. Leila Candler McGee Daniel, age 39, of Lawrenceville, GA, died April 4, 2007 after a 16 year fight against cancer. Ms. Daniel was a first-grade and kindergarten teacher in both Rockdale and Gwinnett Counties, where she touched lives of hundreds of children, inspiring them as well as guiding them in their educations. She was a graduate of LaGrange College and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She was still very active with LaGrange College, acting as Vice-President of the L.C. Alumni Association, and as one of the founders and advisors of the Greek Alumni Society. She was also one of the driving forces of the Gwinnett County Relay for Life, the Annual Fund Raiser for the American Cancer Society. She walked proudly in the Survivors Lap every year and spoke many times at meetings and rallies, bringing attention to the need for research and funds to fight cancer. She was currently a Business Education teacher at Collins Hill High School serving there since the school's inception in 1994 and was a mock trial and F.B.L.A. advisor. Formerly Mrs. Settles was an industry certified marketing education coordinator and DECCA advisor. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling to several beach locations and being a member of Sherry Monroe's Sunday School Class at Hebron Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother, sister and friend and was greatly anticipating the imminent birth in 2 weeks of her first Grandchild, Lilly Paige.
