LILBURN - Robbers on Tuesday afternoon got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after holding up armored car employees.
Two armored car employees were making a delivery at Atlanta Check Cashers at 4204 Lawrenceville Highway. One employee got out of the armored car with a bag, said Sgt. Tyler Thomas, Lilburn Police Department spokesman.
"A black male suspect shot the victim in the shoulder, grabbed the bag and ran into an adjacent apartment complex," Woodcliff apartments, Thomas said.
The other armored car employee stayed in the car and was not harmed. The unidentified victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said.
Authorities are looking for two suspects. A witness reported seeing two men leaving the area in a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed, Thomas said.
Another officer on routine patrol later found the bag, without the cash, on Old Manor Road, about two miles away from the scene.
The FBI is helping with the investigation, Thomas said.
The victim was fortunate to receive some medical attention from an Emory medical school student before the ambulance arrived, he said. "The injury does not appear to be life threatening."
