Snellville Pizza Hut robbed

•SNELLVILLE - The manager of a Snellville Pizza Hut was robbed when leaving the store to make a bank deposit Thursday morning, police said.

While sitting in his vehicle at the 4116 Lenora Church Road restaurant, a black man approached the manager pointing a gun at him and demanding money, according to a police report.

The man took a bag containing about $1,200 then fled in a two-door tan or gold-colored vehicle.

Thief said game system

made him rob store

•STONE MOUNTAIN - A man who robbed the GameStop store at 1825 Rockbridge Road on Wednesday afternoon told store employees a video game made him do it.

After inquiring about buying a game system, the store manager said the black man asked for two video games and a game console. When the employee retrieved the items, the man pulled a gun on the manager and demanded the items and money from the register, a police report said.

The man told the manager he was sorry for what he was doing but the game system was making him do it. The manager said the man apologized twice before fleeing.

Man robbed at Norcross ATM

•NORCROSS - A man withdrawing money from the SunTrust Bank automatic teller at 5950 Jimmy Carter Blvd. on Wednesday night was robbed, police said.

Two black men approached the man's vehicle about 10 p.m., according to a police report. One of the men walked up to the driver's side window, pointed a gun in his face and demanded his money.

The man said he told the men he was not rich, before they took the $20 he had withdrawn and fled on foot.

The man with the gun is described as tall and skinny with short hair and was wearing blue pants. The second man was dressed in all black.

Police find 104 pounds of pot in car

•BRASELTON - Braselton police discovered 104 pounds of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 March 27.

Police stopped Felix Garcia Mendiola, 28, of Greer, S.C., for excessive window tinting, police reports said. The officer noticed Mendiola appeared nervous, was sweating profusely and the car smelled strongly of cologne. Officers discovered 104 pounds of suspected marijuana under the back seat and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Mendiola was arrested and charged with a window glazing violation, driving unlicensed or with an expired license, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, trafficking in marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

Mendiola remains in the Jackson County jail without bond.

Missouri man charged with assault

•BRASELTON - A Missouri man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault Wednesday after he reportedly approached and threatened another man with a metal pipe.

Richard Sanders, 54, Poplar Bluff, Mo., approached Najim Ibrahim Muhsin, 53, of Houston, Texas, as Muhsin was exiting his tractor-trailer, witnesses at the Pilot station at 5888 Ga. Highway 53 told police.

Sanders walked toward Muhsin carrying a metal pipe and gesturing at Muhsin in a threatening manner, according to witnesses and police reports. When Sanders got close to Muhsin, Muhsin struck Sanders with his fist, knocking him to the ground, according to police reports.

Muhsin told police he hit Sanders because he believed Sanders was going to strike him with the metal pipe, police reports said. Muhsin said Sanders was angry at him for taking the only parking spot.

Police found Sanders bleeding from the head. Police retrieved the metal pipe, arrested Sanders and charged him with aggravated assault. Sanders remains in the Jackson County jail under $5,000 bond.
