BACKGROUND

The City of Buford, Georgia formerly operated a landfill at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and McEver Road. The Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/McEver Road landfill has been in existence for approximately 30 years, and received both domestic and manufacturing solid wastes during its active years. The McEver Road landfill was officially closed in March 1989. Site ground water quality data indicate ground water constituents at the site exceed ground water protection standards in limited plume areas near the landfill waste limit boundaries. Horizontal and vertical delineation of ground water contamination has been accomplished. Ground water samples are collected bi-annually.

Methane monitoring wells have been installed and demonstrate methane concentration compliance at the property boundaries. The methane monitoring wells are monitored quarterly.

On May 31, 2006, the Revised Assessment of Corrective Measures was submitted to Georgia's Solid Waste Management Program in compliance with Solid Waste Management Program rules.
