LAWRENCEVILLE - Another child has died of injuries received in a fatal four-vehicle collision that occurred over the weekend on Interstate 85.
Anna Biro, 6, was transported by helicopter to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital on Saturday, where she died several hours later, said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Her 3-year-old brother, Robert, died at the accident scene near Hamilton Mill Road. Authorities said their mother, 33-year-old Miheala Biro, was driving a Toyota Corolla north on I-85 at 4:49 p.m. Saturday when she lost control. The car crossed the grassy median and collided with three other vehicles - a GMC sport utility vehicle, a Jaguar and a Honda Civic - in the southbound lanes. Miheala and her husband, 33-year-old Zoltan-Daniel Biro, who was in the front passenger's seat, were transported to North Fulton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The children were properly restrained in the back seat, but the worst injuries apparently occurred when the Toyota was "T-boned" by the SUV as it crossed into oncoming traffic. Moloney said the family was visiting from Romania and they were driving back from the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Investigators are still trying to figure out why Miheala lost control of the car. "We don't know. It's a mystery," Moloney said.More like this story
