Ila Mae Bearden, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and long time resident of Stone Mountain, passed away Sept. 21, 2006 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents Elijah and Clioda Trammell and her husband Bunyan Bearden. After being a full-time homemaker for 25 years, Mrs. Bearden began a career teaching ceramics. She worked for 35 years with Harriet Tuggle Ceramics, Anne's Ceramics, and Faye's Ceramic Cottage. She was a phenomenally talented artist who created many beautiful pieces that won awards in ceramic competitions. Her specialties included painting eyes on figurines, Christmas trees, and angels. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching ceramics and watching her students be proud of their finished creations. Mrs. Bearden was also an excellent cook who delighted in cooking for others. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lumpkin County and enjoyed the people and programs of Mountain Park First Baptist Church. Ila Mae Bearden is survived by her daughter Connie Buckelew, son-in-law Thomas Buckelew, of Lilburn, grandchildren Michael Buckelew of Lilburn and Michelle and Bryan Trammel of Grayson, and great-grandson Tyler Trammel of Grayson, nephews raised as brothers Clayton Trammell of Dahlonega, Hubert and Pat Trammell of Clermont, double nephew Benny and Bonnie Bearden of Cumming, and sister-in-law Gladys Bearden of Dawsonville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Bill Head Funeral Home, 6101 Highway 29, Tucker, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25 at 11 a.m. at Bill Head Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Cox officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
