LAWRENCEVILLE - Police have arrested a man on charges he married six women.
Alvin Lorenzo Murdock, 37, was charged with five counts of bigamy because at least one of the marriages appears to be legal, according to Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney. "All of his 'wives' are from different parts in Africa," Moloney said. "We believe the motive was for Murdock to help these women to become U.S. citizens." Moloney said the police were told of the case by Superior Court Judge Michael Clark. Clark did not return a phone call Wednesday. In addition to the bigamy charges, Murdock is facing a charge of possession of marijuana stemming from a pat-down during his arrest, Moloney said. Warrants had previously been issued for Murdock on two counts each of aggravated assault and cruelty to children from a separate incident, Moloney said. Murdock, who lives at 6464 Summit Point Apartment F in Norcross, was being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.More like this story
