Meadowcreek's Quarles commits to Demon Deacons

Gwinnett's list of Division I football commitments grew to six with the addition of Meadowcreek senior Cyhl Quarles, who accepted a scholarship to Wake Forest on Tuesday.

Quarles, a linebacker, also had an offer from Alabama-Birmingham before deciding on Wake. His former coach at Meadowcreek, George Pugh, coaches at UAB and his older brother Kelvin plays football at Connecticut.

The speedy Quarles made 73 tackles as a junior in nine games for the Mustangs.

Wake Forest already has four former Gwinnett players on its roster, including Greater Atlanta Christian grads Micah Andrews, Ben Wooster and Christopher Langley. Collins Hill grad Barrett McMillin also plays for the Demon Deacons.
