LILBURN - Police are asking for the public's help identifying a gunman who held up a Lilburn convenience store.
Several images of the suspect were captured by surveillance cameras and released Sunday by investigators. The man reportedly entered the Citgo at 331 Rockbridge Road on Thursday, brandished a silver handgun and ordered the clerk to hand over money from the cash register.
He fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Sgt. Tyler Thomas of the Lilburn Police Department. Officers were unable to locate him despite using a tracking dog.
Investigators think the suspect may be linked to the robbery of a Public Storage warehouse at 615 Indian Trail Road a few months ago, along with several other recent robberies at Public Storage warehouses in DeKalb County.
He has a similar build and appearance, and tends to flee on foot, Thomas said. The robber may have a vehicle waiting nearby, because he disappears quickly.
Thomas stressed that the suspect's connection to the Public Storage robberies is only a theory at this point in the investigation.
"There is a good possibility someone out there will recognize this individual and let us know," Thomas said. "That has happened in the past with other cases."
Anyone who thinks they recognize the suspect is asked to call the Lilburn Police Department's tip line at 770-638-2220.
