Police investigate attempted arson
•NORCROSS - Someone, possibly a disgruntled former employee, attempted to set fire to several vehicles Saturday at an electrical contracting company at 3145 Northwoods Parkway. The manager of Dynalectric told police the company had a layoff Thursday, although he wasn't certain which employees had been let go. When employees arrived to work, they noticed the security keypad on the front door had been kicked off the metal frame it was attached to, according to a police report. The wheel of a 2000 GMC Sierra truck in the parking lot was on fire. Other vehicles had oil on the tires but were not on fire. Burned paper was found on top of the tires, as though someone had tried unsuccessfully to ignite them, the police report stated. The robber came into the store at 7 a.m. and approached a cashier to purchase a candy bar. He gave the cashier a $1. When she opened the register, he grabbed $30 from the cash drawer, a police report stated. The suspect ran away toward a Best Western motel nearby. He is described as a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with acne on his face. He wore a white T-shirt with blue jeans and held a towel to the side of his face, as if covering a wound, the police report said. - From staff reportsMore like this story
