LAWRENCEVILLE - Two men robbed a SunTrust Bank in Norcross on Friday, but they didn't make it far before an exploding dye pack ruined their loot.
The suspects walked into the bank branch at 4601 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. at 9:35 a.m., said Special Agent Stephen Emmett of the FBI in Atlanta. One of the robbers remained in the lobby, brandishing a small handgun and shouting "Don't move and you won't get hurt," Emmett said. The other man jumped over the teller counter and took money from several teller stations. The robbers fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. However, a blue shopping bag used in the heist was found a short distance away. The bank proceeds were still inside, and there was evidence that a dye pack had exploded, Emmett said. One suspect is described as a black man of medium build, about 6 feet tall and 240 to 250 pounds. He was wearing tennis shoes, a mask over his face, black baseball cap, black jacket with red sleeves and black jeans. The second robber is a black man in his early 20s who is approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds. He had a mustache and wore a baseball cap, tennis shoes, blue denim jacket and blue jeans, Emmett said. No surveillance photos from the bank were available on Friday. Anyone with information regarding the robbery should call the FBI Atlanta office at 404-679-9000.More like this story
