Mrs. Tara Fortune Helton, age 41, of Marietta GA, died September 3, 2006 after a gallant battle against Lupus. She is survived by: Husband - Mr. Tim Helton of Marietta GA; Son: John Thomas (J.T.) Sholota of Marietta GA; Daughter: Ms. Piper Helton of Louisville, KY; Parents: Mr. & Mrs. Bill (Nita) Fortune of Marietta; Two Sisters: Tammy Dunbar of Marietta; Tracey Fortune of Atlanta; Brother; Mr. & Mrs. Johnny (Judy) Fortune of Buchanan, GA; Brother in laws; John Buscaglia of Atlanta; Sam Walker of Marietta; Sister-in-law: Mr. & Mrs. Darrel (Judy) Shore of Douglasville, GA: Mother-in-law: Mrs. Jacquie Helton of Douglasville, GA: Father-in-law: Mr. Ernest Helton of Deepstep, GA; Nieces: Ms. Alex Dunbar of Marietta; Ms. Sophia Buscaglia of Atlanta; Several Aunts and Uncles. Tara was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Webb (Allene) Fortune, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Louie (Helen) Fowler. Tara was born at Dekalb Medical Center on August 27, 1965. She attended Lawrenceville Elementary School and was a graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian School. Tara worked with her father and family for fifteen years in the Fortune Bridge Construction Company. She was President of the Hydro Action GA/FL Company, which she founded with her devoted husband Tim in 1998. Her son J.T. said of his mother, "She was always there for me and had a heart of platinum." Tara was an extraordinary, bright, sensitive, honest friend to many with a gift for listening and putting one at ease. Her smile, her sense of humor and the laughter she shared with all who knew her will be remembered and dearly missed. Tara had a deep love and appreciation of nature and for any kind of animal. She loved riding horses and playing tennis. She lost her beloved Westie Terrier "Tazz" after 18 years of loyal companionship this past year. Her love for that little friend in her life continued when Tara and Tim brought "Bella" home from the animal shelter. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Tara will be held on Wednesday morning, September 6, at 11:00 AM in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Inc. with Rev. W.C. Corley and Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday.
