LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County Public Schools' enrollment projections were right on target this year, with more than 150,000 students sharpening their pencils in preparation for another school year.
The post-Labor Day count was 151,885 Tuesday, only 18 students below what system planners projected, said GCPS spokeswoman Sloan Roach. Historically, the actual enrollment projections are within 1 percent of the actual enrollment after Labor Day. This year, the forecast was only 1/100th of a percentage point off the forecast. The post-Labor Day count more accurately reflects school enrollment, because the number of students typically climbs after the first day, Roach said. Student enrollment usually peaks during the fourth or fifth school month. From the first count day on Aug. 15 to Tuesday, 4,837 students were added to the rolls.More like this story
