LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County SWAT team was called out just before midnight Sunday after a man reportedly fired a gun several times.
The situation ended peacefully, when 28-year-old Jonathon French Peebles turned himself in after speaking with negotiators, police Cpl. Darren Moloney said. At 11:48 p.m., officers were sent to 5913 Old Town Place in the Norcross area to investigate reports of a person shot. Peebles' father met them there and said his son had fired a weapon inside. The father was evacuated, and some families nearby were asked to leave their homes as the SWAT team arrived. Peebles turned himself in about two hours later. He was charged with felony aggravated assault and taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center. Moloney said other charges might be pending. Moloney said the investigation is continuing, and the motive and target of the shooting were unclear. No one was injured in the incident.More like this story
