Lilburn man who died in Lake Lanier identified

LAWRENCEVILLE - Officials have identified the 19-year-old Lilburn man who died after being pulled from Lake Lanier Saturday.

The body of Harold H. Roberts was recovered from Cocktail Cove, a section of the lake, Saturday evening.

Ben Johnson, a spokesman for the Department of Natural Resources, said Roberts' death was classified a boating accident because he fell out of a boat and then drowned.

That is is the second fatal boating accident this year.

Johnson said the north Georgia lake has also been the site of four drownings in 2006, which makes this year twice as deadly as 2005, when three people drowned at the lake.

On Saturday, Roberts was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Roberts was not wearing a life jacket, but sheriff's office officials said the incident appears to be accidental and no foul play is suspected.

In unrelated incidents, Johnson said two driving under the influence citations were issued to boaters over the Labor Day weekend.
