DULUTH - The city of Duluth now has a public information officer and marketing director "to increase the visibility and credibility of the city government."
Alisa Williams, downtown manager since 2003, was named to the new post Monday. In her previous job, she managed Duluth's Main Street program and city events. Now, she will develop materials, programs and activities to help citizens better understand the city and its objectives, she said. She'll use several means to accomplish her task - including the city Web site and newsletter. Williams also will bring local groups and "appropriate" city officials together. "I will be available to meet with any group that would like to know more about what projects the city has going on or any other city topics they would like to discuss," she said in a written statement. Williams is a graduate of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in marketing and a master's degree in business administration. The public information office will be at the Duluth Festival Center, 3142 Hill St., until the new City Hall is built next year. As of Tuesday, Williams may be reached through telephone, 678-475-3506, or fax, 678-475-3510.More like this story
