LAWRENCEVILLE - While Election Day is still more than a week away, voters can begin to cast ballots Monday.
The statewide early voting period begins at 9 a.m.
While Gwinnett Elections Supervisor Lynn Ledford said she doesn't expect too large a crowd. She's opened three offices for the voters to use.
Two years ago, hundreds of people crammed into the county courthouse, some waiting in line for up to eight hours to avoid lines on Election Day. So Ledford decided to open satellite offices.
This time around, though Ledford isn't expecting the crowds. She said interest has been low in this year's races, and her office has received a higher number of paper absentee ballots because of distrust in the electronic voting machines.
Gwinnett's elections office has moved to 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, in Lawrenceville. People can vote there from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday.
The hours at the satellite locations are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
