Gretchen Levering, 76, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, GA with her daughter, Lisa, at her side. She was born in Cambridge, MA on February 28, 1930, the daughter of Lorna Doone Strunz and Richard Meisenbach. She attended school and grew up in West Newton, MA. Gretchen married Jack Lee Foster in New York where they had three children; Charles Foster, who passed away a few months after birth and Mitchell Lee and Deborah Kyle Foster. Gretchen later moved to Houston, TX where she met her second husband, Dan Levering and had their daughter Lisa Levering. They enjoyed the sun and ocean and spent practically every weekend for years driving down to Galveston, TX first tenting until Lisa was born and then graduating to having a trailer at the beach. Gretchen later moved to Dover, MA in 1986 to live with her mother and was reacquainted with friends from her school days. She remained living in Dover, MA until November of 2004. It was then when she was diagnosed with lung fibrosis and emphysema that she moved to Lawrenceville to be with her daughter, Lisa and her husband, Enrique and their two boys to share in their lives. She played an integral part in the lives of her two grandsons, Andres and Austin. She was a very protective and doting Grandmother that was able to get down on the floor at their level both physically and emotionally playing games and having lots of laughs with them. Her wry sense of humor was evident even in her last days. She leaves behind her son, Mitchell Lee Foster and wife, Carolyn Foster of Median, OH; daughter, Deborah Kyle Forman of Billings, MT and Lisa Gonzalez and husband, Enrique Gonzalez of Lawrenceville, GA. She is also survived by her brother, Ricky Meisenbach, his wife, Jane and their son, Francis of Harpswell, ME; and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to all her caregivers and the nurses at Hospice for their support in her last few months. A memorial service will be held later in Maine with family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Embracing Hospice, 2160 Fountain Drive, Snellville, GA 30078. Arrangements by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Inc.
