LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville woman was killed in a two-car collision Friday morning, and alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
Krystal Nicole Loper, 19, of Lawrenceville, who was driving a 1998 Plymouth Neon, was pronounced dead at the scene. "We believe alcohol was involved on her end, we just need a blood test to prove it," said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The collision occurred about 1:50 a.m. on Sweetwater Road near the intersection of Club Drive. Moloney said the woman was traveling north on Sweetwater Road and swerved over the center lane. The woman continued to veer left into the southbound lane of traffic and collided with a tow truck that was traveling south, Moloney said. The rates of speed of both the woman and the tow truck driver are unknown. Moloney also said the woman was not wearing her seat belt. The tow truck driver, identified as Martin L. McCarkle of Clarkston, was wearing his seat belt and did not need medical attention. The crash is still under investigation.More like this story
