SUWANEE - Allie Millonig scored the game-winning run off a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to give Mill Creek a 2-1 victory over North Forsyth in the second round of the Region 7-AAAAA softball tournament on Wednesday.
Katy Hackett was dominant as usual, pitching a complete game and allowing only seven hits while striking out 13 to pick up the win for the Hawks. Bethany Hackett led Mill Creek offensively going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mill Creek will play North Gwinnett at 8 p.m. tonight at Collins Hill High School. SOFTBALL Norcross 6, South Forsyth 5 HOSCHTON - Heidi Shape drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to give Norcross a 6-5 win over South Forsyth in the Region 7-AAAAA tournament on Wednesday. Shape was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Allison Klibanoff was 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Blue Devils. Samantha Findling was the winning pitcher, as she struck out the last six batters of the game. Grayson 6, Central Gwinnett 0 LILBURN - Katy Lewis pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out 10 batters to lead Grayson past Central Gwinnett 6-0 in the second round of the Region 8-AAAAA tournament on Wednesday. Amanda Hutcheson was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Ariel LaRocca went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Grayson will play Brookwood at 5 p.m. on Monday at Parkview High School. North Gwinnett 9, Peachtree Ridge 1 SUWANEE - Brittany Broome and Mary Beth O'Rouke combined to shut down Peachtree Ridge as they led North Gwinnett to a 9-1 victory in the second round of the Region 7-AAAAA tournament. Broome and O'Rouke combined to allow only five hits while striking out seven batters on the day. Kacey Martin was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Katie MacDannald went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored to lead the way offensively for the Bulldogs. Providence 16, St. Francis 0 ALPHARETTA - Brittany Ellington allowed only one hit while striking out six batters as Providence blasted St. Francis 16-0 on Wednesday in a Region 5-A matchup. Cassie Flowers was 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Danielle Johnston was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Hannah Reiswig chipped in with three RBIs. - Compiled by Haaris Quraishy To report scores, call 770-339-5850.
