Man robbed in store parking lot

•NORCROSS - A Duluth man was attacked and robbed Monday after leaving the Dollar Store at the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Tech Drive.

The victim was approached in the parking lot at about 8 p.m. by a man wielding a screwdriver and asking for money. The victim handed over $350. The robber then pushed him down and hit the man several times in the head with a piece of wood, according to a police report.

The victim sustained a bruise to his hand and several abrasions to his head.

Group attacks Tucker man

•TUCKER - A group of 10 to 15 men, apparently all devoted satellite TV fans, attacked a Tucker man this week at Westwood Apartments off South Norcross Tucker Road.

The victim was playing football with some friends about 5:30 p.m. when the ball bounced off a satellite dish in the yard. The owner of the dish came outside and began arguing with the victim and his friends, according to a police report.

Then a group of unidentified Hispanic men who were friends of the satellite dish owner began throwing beer bottles at him, the police report stated.

The victim received lacerations to his face, including one which caused most of his right cheek to be separated from his face, and another which exposed a chest muscle. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment.
